SUSTENANCE DINNER: with Heather Hands

sustenance-01.png

We have a very special guest coming to the farm and we would like to invite you to participate in a

communal dinner with us! On Wednesday, June 26th from 5pm to 9pm, Heather Hands will be on site

leading a farm walk, meditation, discussion and impromptu meal preparation. In support of her book

‘Sustenance: Feed the body, Nourish the Soul’, Heather is traveling the country in her converted Honda

Element organizing meals and sharing her passion for food, community and togetherness. I had the

pleasure of meeting and working with Heather on a permaculture farm in Costa Rica a few years back and I

am so excited that she’ll be stopping by The HOG!

Space is limited to 30 guests. Please RSVP to thehogfarmllc@gmail.com to reserve your spot.

Here’s what the evening will look like...

30 minutes – Light meditation on deepening our connection to nature.

1 hour – Nature/garden walk, harvesting any garden items or wild edibles.

1+ hour – Preparing the meal together.

2+ hours – Slideshow and eating together.

The meal is created impromptu! Each guest PLEASE bring a favorite seasonal ingredient, enough for 3

people, and no cooking oil, or dried spices (it is okay if people double up, it just forces Heather to be more

creative, which is part of the fun). It is preferable if the ingredient is something from a home garden, a wild

edible that you know well, or something from the farmers market or CSA. Local seafood is welcome but

please, no red meat or poultry. We would like for this meal to be mostly plant based.

Heather will give a small talk at the beginning of the meditation as well as during the meal preparation and

dining. Additionally during dining, at each place setting, Heather will present a question to guests which we

will discuss together during our meal.

If anyone has the ability to film the evening (can be set up and left alone) or can help manage her GoPro,

Heather has a videographer that will be editing all the footage that she is able to take, into short videos for

social media, and as pieces of a larger living documentary that she is putting together on food and

community. If any guests do not want to be filmed, she is happy to accommodate their requests.

Guests are encouraged to bring musical instruments to add to the enjoyment of the preparation process!

BYOB as well!

We hope you’ll join us at this unique gathering on the farm. To RSVP or if you have any questions, please

email me (Lauren) at thehogfarmllc@gmail.com
